  5. Try installing QuickBooks in Safe Mode. To enter Safe Mode, restart your computer and press F8 repeatedly until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears. Select Safe Mode and press Enter.

Scroll to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\InProgress

Check the following registry key and delete any entries in the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations

Step 4: Check the permissions

Verify the System has Full Control on the following key:

Navigate to the following entry and right-click.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer

Click Permissions.  Click SYSTEM.  If it doesn’t have FULL CONTROL and you can’t change it, you must contact your IT Department for help.

Next, restart your computer and try again.
