Quickbooks Error Code 6189
While executing activities on Windows and Mac operating systems, the QuickBooks Desktop program faces a variety of problems. Way 1:- Download and install QuickBooks Tools Hub in the first step.
To do so, take these steps:
- Exit QuickBooks.
- Save the QuickBooks Tool Hub file to your computer (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
- Save the downloaded file to a convenient place (such as a Windows desktop).
- Open the file that was downloaded.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install the utility.
- When the installation process is complete, double-click the tool’s icon on your Windows desktop to launch it.
Note: If you’re having difficulty locating the icon, do a Windows search for QuickBooks Tool Hub and then choose the application.
Way 2: From the Tools Hub, launch Fix my Program.
QuickBooks Tools Hub is a collection of tools that assist in troubleshooting various kinds of difficulties or problems that may occur while accessing a business file. To fix the problem, do the following steps:
- Select Program Problems from the QuickBooks Tools Hub.
- Following that, choose Quick Fix my Program.
- Begin by starting QuickBooks Desktop and then navigating to your.QBW data file.

Solution 2 – Reboot your computer

Step 3: Once you’ve found your business file, click Start Scan in the QuickBooks Database Server Manager box (s).
Note: If you are unable to locate the file, go to the location of your business file and click ‘Start Scan’.
Step 4: QuickBooks Database Server Manager will restore your firewall permissions automatically.
Step 5: After the scan is complete, click Close.
Step 6: Launch QB Desktop on the server and workstation computers.
Note: If one of the workstations has QuickBooks Database Server Manager installed, ensure that the workstation is not utilized to host your multi-user network.
Rename the Network Data File (ND) and the Transaction Log File (TLF) (TLG)
Both ND and TLG files provide configuration information that enables QuickBooks to access a QBW file in a multi-user environment. If these files are corrupted/damaged, you may experience the ‘QuickBooks error 6189, 816’.
However, if you rescan them using QuickBooks Database Server Manager and access the business file, the files are immediately recreated. When this occurs, rename the ND and TLG files and verify that the problem is resolved.
The procedure for renaming the ND and TLG files is as follows:
Step 1: Navigate to the folder that contains your company’s file.
Step 2: Identify files that have the same name as your company’s files but are stored with a different extension.
ND and.TLG (in the order specified below):
Step 3: Right-click and then rename each file.
Make certain you include the term ‘OLD’ at the end of the ND and TLG filenames. Consider the following example: company file.qbw.nd.OLD.
Reopen QuickBooks and attempt to sign in to your business file. If the problem persists, go to the next repair.
Solution 6 – Determine the location of your QuickBooks Company Data File (QBW).
